Metabolic Surgery

Dr Sanjay Verma is one of first few Laparoscopic Surgeon to adopt & gained expertise in Metabolic Surgery for Type 2 diabetes in India & has credited with more than 1000 Metabolic Surgeries in Delhi. He has successfully treated Metabolic Syndrome, which includes obesity, diabetes, high cholesterol and hypertension through surgical methods and is called Metabolic Surgery. The combined conditions of Metabolic Syndrome such as, obesity, type II diabetes, hypertension and cholesterol metabolism malfunction, are life threatening along with serious organ failure.

Metabolic surgery refers to a various type of Laparoscopic procedures which are involved either in reducing or bypassing sections of the stomach and small intestine for the treatment.

Dr Sanjay Verma has been performing the laparoscopic tailored metabolic Surgeries in Inida for the surgical treatment.The type of procedure is chosen based on the following considerations:

  • LAGB (Laparoscopic adjustable gastric banding) – Material Silicone (highly biocompatible material)
  • LAGB is used to treat severe obesity, having hypertension, high cholesterol, type 2 diabetes, sleep apnea, and arthritis. Other weight loss therapies has not shown long term sucess
  • Complete evaluation of the patient.
  • History of the patient ,including duration of Diabetes.
  • Treatment being taken for Diabetes i.e. Oral Medication/ Insulin.
  • Preoperative weight of the patient.
